Colin Rankin is one of the few non-autistic people left on the planet. In his dull existence, he only looks forward to the visits of his daughter Rebecca, a high-functioning person with Aspergers, and his similar grandson Shawn. His disappointment at their visit's cancellation runs deeper: he is uncomfortable around most members of the autistic spectrum, and longs for society as it used to run. Eventually, he has the revelation that the world has evolved and left him behind.
