Film and television director, producer and scriptwriter Chris Thomson has directed such television mini-series as 1915 (q.v., 1982), Waterfront (q.v., 1984) and Stringer (1987). He also directed the television adaption of Patrick Whites Big Toys (q.v., 1979), the three part drama The Challenge (1986), the two-part drama series Rainbow Warrior Conspiracy (1988), and the telemovie The Rock Pool (1978),
In 1980 Thomson was co-producer of the ABC's drama Man of Letters (1984) and has directed such films as The Empty Beach (1985) and The Delinquents (1989). In 1997 Thomson was invited to be one of nine directors working on the ABC Television series 99.9 RAW FM. Among his credits as screenwriter is the 1989 thriller Jigsaw (as co-writer).
Since the 1990s Thomson has directed episodes for both US television series (filmed in Australia) and local productions - notably: The Flying Doctors (1991), Police Rescue (q.v., 1993), Time Trax (1993-1994), Flipper (1995), State Coroner (1997), and Ponderosa (2000-2001).
