Frederick Mole was born at Harlaxton, near Toowoomba, and educated at the North State School, Toowoomba. He originally trained as a teacher, and taught at Toowoomba North School for four years, before transferring to the Department of Public Instruction in 1884.
In 1893, he transferred to the Department of Public Works, where he was secretary and accountant for the Victoria Bridge Board, and responsible for the toll collecting system then in use.
In 1897, he was appointed first clerk of the Insolvency, Intestacy, and Insanity subdepartment of the Department of Justice. In 1905, he was appointment Deputy Official Trustee, Deputy Principal Receiver in Insolvency, and Deputy Curator in Intestacy and Insanity: by the end of 1915, he was Official Trustee and Principal Receiver in Insolvency and Curator in Intestacy and Insanity.
In 1916, he became Deputy Public Curator, and in 1918, he was appointed Public Curator.
He was the author of two serials: 'Lola-Sue' and 'Moreton Bay'.
