BiographyHistory

Poet and short story writer, Beverley George has worked as a technical writer/editor for CSIRO and has produced and edited Yellow Moon magazine.

In 2006 George founded Eucalypt, Australia's first literary journal dedicated to tanka. She has been a Writing Fellow of the Fellowship of Australian Writers and President of HaikuOz, the Australian Haiku Society. Her international first prizes for haiku and tanka include the Third Ashiya International Festa (Japan), the British Haiku Society James W. Hackett Award, the World Haiku Club R. H. Blyth Award and first prize in the Tanka Society of America International Competition 2006 and a high mention in the same competition. George's first book for children, the Primary Reader Sneeze Power, was published in 2006 in the Gigglers Gold series.

George is the mother of Meredith Ferris (q.v.).
