Although born while his parents were travelling through Europe, Jesse Martin spent most of his early years in the Daintree, North Queensland. In 1998, at age seventeen, when he set off from Melbourne to sail solo around the world, Martin was already an experienced sailor and adventurer. He had sailed Australia's tropical coast in a small catamaran, trekked through South-East Asia and kayaked through remote islands of Papua New Guinea.
Jesse filmed his entire journey, and this footage is the basis for the television documentary entitled Lionheart : The Jesse Martin Story.
In 2004 Jesse founded the production company Imajica Media Pty Ltd. that is pursuing a number of projects involving adventure travel and feature length documentary production. He also runs exploratory sail expeditions in Papua New Guinea aboard his 38 foot Polynesian catamaran Imajica.
