BiographyHistory

Ernest Scott was born in England in 1868 and worked as a journalist in London until migrating to Australia in 1892. In Australia, he continued to work as a journalist, joining firstly the staff of the Melbourne Herald. Following the publication of his impressive histories, Terre Napoléon (1910) and Lapérouse (1913), he was appointed Professor of History at the University of Melbourne. He retired from the position in 1936.
