BiographyHistory

Merchant sailor and solo seaman who circumnavigated the world. On one of his regular visits to Sydney, Slocum married an American, Virginia Albertina Walker, on 31 January 1871. Slocum's circumnavigation (1895-1898) included stops in Sydney and Cooktown, both in 1897.
