BiographyHistory

Gaetano De Luca was a restauranteur by trade and noted for his ability to write verse and occasional poems for community occasions. Known locally as Il Bardo di Innisfail [The Bard of Innisfail], his poetry appeared regularly in the Italian language press. His unpublished collection of poetry 'Eco dell'anima' was compiled in 1938 and contained 67 poems in which he observed daily life, the life of a migrant in Australia, local personalities and personal reminiscences of his homeland.
