Born in Croatia in the former Yugoslavia, Tatjana Lukic gained degrees in philosophy and sociology from Sarajevo University. She published four collections of poetry in the former Yugoslavia, winning national awards. During the wars in Croatia and Bosnia in the early 1990s, Lukic and her family became refugees. They came to Australia in 1992 and settled in Canberra where Lukic worked as a researcher and data analyst for various government departments.
Lukic's poems in English were published in Australia and internationally.
