Peter Howe grew up along the east coast of Australia and lived the surfing life, working on boats and doing coastal types of work near the sea. His father was a waterside worker and moved between Wollongong and Cairns. Peter wrote one other story - in Squire, now defunct. He also wrote a song for the surfing film Mother of the Earth. Unable to make a living by writing stories and songs, he worked as a primary school teacher.
