BiographyHistory

Ramon Cuelho was born in Salto, Uruguay, and came to Australia in 1983 as a political refugee after spending seven years in the 'Liberty' prison. In 1986 Cuelho founded 'Grupo Germinal' to foster his literary and artistic activities and in 1987 published Desde Adentro, a collection of poems dealing with his experience of imprisonment.

Cuelho has read his work at libraries, conferences and galleries. His craftwork has also been exhibited in a number of galleries.
