BiographyHistory

New Zealand-born Eric Honeywell Partridge founded Scholartis Press in London in 1927. The Press published scholarly editions of English literature, some of which Partridge researched and edited, in beautifully produced limited editions. It also published some contemporary fiction, and material relating to Partridge's interest in lexicography.

From 1929 the name Eric Partridge Limited was used for the publication of fiction and 'Eric Partridge at the Scholartis Press' for scholarly reprints. The business went bankrupt in 1931, and both branches ceased publishing within a few years.
