1 A Bushranger for a Year J. G. , 1874 single work short story
— Appears in: The Australian Journal , August vol. 9 no. 111 1874; (p. 685-687)
Peter Dowling is transported to Van Diemen's Land for sheep-stealing, vowing to escape. He is assigned to Captian Griffith (old Rasper) who uses his keen eye in opossum hunting. Dowling escapes and lives in the bush for months, escapes from capture once, is betrayed at last but is placed in the police service. Competent but, apart from the subject matter, not unusual. (PB)
