BiographyHistory

William Augustus Miles was the Superintendent of Police in Sydney during the 1940s. He was a member of the Ethnological Society of London, the Statistical Society and the Museum d'Historie Naturelle (Paris) and some of his drawings of Aboriginal rock carvings survive. In later life he wrote an article on the languages, beliefs and material culture of Aboriginal Australians.
