BiographyHistory

Narkaling grew out of a concern 'at the lack of resources for adults with an intellectual disability'. Beginning in 1986 (with recordings made at home by Helen Delany), it was funded as the Taped Book Demonstration Project for twelve months under the auspices of the Activ Foundation Inc. A decade later, it was officially launched as 'not for profit incorporated organisation in June 1997'.

Narkaling produced educational resources for adults, teenagers and children with a disability, specialising in 'the production of audio cassette/book kits' with slow narration speeds and with a copy of the published book accompanying the audio version.

Narkaling later became People Learn Productions.
