1 My Serenader C. D. , 1887 single work short story
— Appears in: The Australian Journal , October vol. 23 no. 269 1887; (p. 82-83)
The tale of a maiden aunt to her young and pretty niece, illustrating how romantic thoughts may be based on total misconceptions. Exemplary, lightly humorous common-sensical tale. (PB)
1 A Disappointed Dramatist C. D. , 1882 single work short story humour romance
— Appears in: The Australian Journal , October vol. 18 no. 209 1882; (p. 106-109)
A professor's young wife disobeys his injunction that she should not attend a lecture on 'Women's Rights' and her friend Hettie minds the house while she goes. This deceit is complicated further when a soldier enamoured of Hettie enters the house, and a dramatist over the road feels compelled to inform the professor ... All ends happily in this comedy of errors; slightly overdone. The women's rights lecture is of course 'nonsense'. (PB)
