Lionel Sparrow was a writer of gothic horror stories in the late nineteenth century. According to James Doig, Sparrow spent most of his life in the Victorian mining town of Linton. He was the proprietor of the local newspaper, the Grenville Standard, and was the federal president of the Old Australian Journalists Association.
