— Appears in: The Australian Journal , May vol. 16 no. 192 1881; (p. 479-481) His sister's absence leaves Philip Fletcher to the care of his widowed cousin Miriam, summoned on such occasions. A sprained ankle causes her to send her daughter instead, and romance follows - much to his sister's disgust. Pleasant tale. (PB)

— Appears in: The Australian Journal , June vol. 13 no. 157 1878; (p. 511-513) Two young women just out of finishing school decide to take a house together and eschew the company of men. They soon grow bored with each other and their time is relieved by the entry of two young men - a brother and a cousin. Humorous anti-feminist piece probably set in Victoria, told through letters and journal entries (with slight reference to "Sense and Sensibility".) (PB).
