BiographyHistory

Rainer Taeni moved to Australia with his parents in 1950. He studied English Literature and Philosophy, and gained a PhD on modern German drama from Monash University, where he also lectured. From 1968 to 1971 he then lectured at the University of Cologne, Germany, but his involvement in radical student politics made his position untenable, and in 1972 he left for Berlin, where he co-founded the street theatre company Mixed Media Co.

In 1976 Taeni returned to Australia and pursued his interests in holistic healing. For a number of years he conducted workshops in 'primal therapy' and subsequently 'creative refocussing' (a therapy that he developed). Taeni has written a number of books on the latter subject.
