Annette Montgomerie spent her early childhood on the bank of the Sigatoka river, surrounded by tropical rain forect at Nalele. When she was six her family moved to Korotoga. She started her education by correspondence, then went to Girls' Grammar School, Suva and then a boarding school in New South Wales.
Her childhood spent in pristine environments had made her keenly aware of the effects of tourism and development on the environment in Fiji, NSW and tropical Queensland.
She married and lived in Sydney, but enjoyed ongoing trips back to her family in Fiji. Her children's visits to their grandfather, with his sense of fun and adventure, and keen knowledge and understanding of his environment and its inhabitants, inspired Montgomerie's environmental stories for children. The ENVIRO KIDS in her stories, each with his or her own skills, combine to make a difference by using what they learn at school and implementing it in their own ecosystems, homes and environments.
With experience both as a designer and manufacturer, Annette Montgomerie has worked at home as an illustrator to the clothing industry.
