BiographyHistory

The firm Barrie and Jenkins was formed by the merger in 1965 of Herbert Jenkins, Limited with Barrie and Rockliff and Hammond, Hammond. Barrie and Jenkins bought Cresset Press in 1967, so acquiring a number of distinguished literary authors. It published high quality art books and general fiction and non-fiction. In 1972 it was acquired by Communica Europe and in the same year sold to Hutchinson and Company, but continued as an entity until at least 1991.
