BiographyHistory

One of the guests invited by Harriet Root and Mary Townes, librarians for the United States Information Service, to a dinner in September 1945 to set up an Australian Children's Book Week and Children's Book Council. Osbourne was an original member of the Australian Children's Book Week Committee in 1945.
Ida Elizabeth Osbourne was the Officer in Charge of the Australian Broadcasting Commission's National Children's Session in the 1940s. She began her broadcasting career as an actress in 1934. From 1951 to 1958 she organised the ABC's National Women's Session.
