BiographyHistory

Allan Humphrey Scott served at Gallipoli as a lieutenant in the 4th Battery, Australian Field Artillery. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his 'conspicuous gallantry' at Lone Pine, in August 1915. Following the Gallipoli campaign, Scott served in France and Belgium, where he was mentioned in dispatches on three occasions. He was killed in action on 1 October, 1917, at Polygon Wood, in Belgium. At the time of his death he had attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

In the years before World War I, Scott had been a keen athlete. He won the New South Wales high-jump championship in 1913.
