Former Australian politician, Keith De Lacy had been a tobacco farmer, an underground miner, an agricultural college principal, a newsagent, an MP, cabinet minister, company director and author.
During his political career, he was the Labor member for Cairns, and Treasurer of Queensland from 1989 to 1996. He did his BA degree externally with UQ as a mature age student. He has since been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters by James Cook University, and the University of Queensland Gatton Gold Medal for services to the state.
