One of the founders of the Clarion South workshop and a graduate of the original Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer’s Workshop at Michigan State University, Grace Dugan grew up in Warwick, Queensland and was educated at the School of Total Education. She later graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003 with a BA in political science and in 2011 with Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery.
Dugan's short stories have appeared in magazines and anthologies including Interzone, Strange Horizons, Eidolon and Agog! Smashing Stories (2004). Her first novel, The Silver Road was published by Penguin Australia in 2006. Her career has seen her teach English language at Griffith University and creative writing at Queensland University of Technology and the Queensland Writers Centre. She has also been a member of the Vision Writers group.
Dugan worked as a resident medical officer in Nelson, New Zealand.
