Denise Groves is from the Pilbara area of Western Australia and has lived in Fremantle. She has worked for the Department of Aboriginal Affairs and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission. Groves was awarded a Master of Development Studies from Murdoch University. She has been employed as a lecturer by both Edith Cowan and Murdoch Universities where she has taught courses on Indigenous Women, Film and Music. Groves has also been involved in organising music and film festivals.
