BiographyHistory

A partnership of Samuel William Partridge and Daniel Francis Oakey published material of 'high moral tone' in London from 1848, including temperance magazines and popular children's magazines and annuals. When the partnership ended in 1855, Partridge continued to publish in the same vein, adding presentation or reward books for children, with extravagant illustrations and bindings. The firm went into receivership in 1930 and was sold to A. and C. Black, who retained the imprint until 1939.
