David Barnes became a full-time writer/poet in 1996 after 24 years as a Real Estate Agent. Earlier in his life, he had been a carpenter in Melbourne and was a travelling folk singer from the age of 18. He is an active internet poet and was the publisher/editor of Poetry Downunder, an online poetry site which ran from May 1998 to May 2002.
