BiographyHistory

Harvill Press is a London-based publishing house founded by Manya Harari and Marjorie Villiers with the intention of disseminating the writing of distinguished non-British authors. The first major success for the publishing house was Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago (1958). In 1955 Harvill was acquired by William Collins and Collins Harvill was formed. However Harvill Press also continued to published under its own name. In March 2002 Harvill Press joined the Random House Group and continued as one of their imprints.
