Truganini was the daughter of Mangerner, Chief of the Recherche Bay people. Following the death of her intended partner, Paraweena, who died while saving Truganini from abduction, she became the partner of Woorraddy. Truganini and Woorraddy accompanied the Reverend George Robinson on his Aboriginal missions for several years in the early 1830s. Truganini spent some time on Flinders Island and at Port Phillip, Victoria, before returning to Tasmania in 1842. She later resettled at Oyster Cove.
