BiographyHistory

Dennis Greene was born in England, brought up Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) then lived for a short time in London and the Channel Islands before moving to Perth in 1983 with his wife, Jo Greene, and daughter Bernadette (qv). He has been at various times a meteorologist, a soldier, a debt collector and a shopkeeper. Diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson's Disease in 1987, Greene was invited to the United States to edit Voices from the Parking Lot, an anthology of writing by people with this illness, on behalf of the Princeton, NJ based Parkinson Alliance. He was for many years co-editor with David Barnes of the Poetry DownUnder website which ran from May 1998 to May 2002 and its spinoff, Numbat. Greene also served as a member of the editorial panel for emPowa #1 and was one of two featured poets in of emPOWA #2.
