BiographyHistory

A. L. Burt, founded by Albert L. Burt, first became known in the 1890s as a publisher of classics in the Burt's Home Library series. The firm expanded into reprints of popular fiction and children's books, and at the time of its sale to Blue Ribbon Books in 1937 was one of the largest reprint houses in the United States.
