Penny Edwards was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship in the Centre for Cross Cultural Research at the Australian National University. Her specialist expertise is in the areas of gender, nationalism, ethnicity and the Chinese diaspora in postcolonial Cambodia and Burma. In 2002 she was awarded a Macarthur Foundation grant to explore religious diplomacy, national ideologies and transnational identities in these cultures.
