BiographyHistory

Gilbert Fry was born at Woonona (then a township near Wollongong), where his father was postmaster. He appears to have spent most of his life working as a pilot with the New South Wales Marine Board. He retired from the pilot service in 1937 and subsequently lived at Manly, in New South Wales. During the 1920s he wrote a number of short stories involving nautical themes for the Sydney Mail.
