Patrick Hromas was born in Hunters Hill, Sydney, Australia in 1973. He spent much of his youth at his parents' property near Mittagong. He has been writing since he was 16, since becoming interested in Seamus Heaney and John Keats. In 2013, he self published Sun Shower, a collection of his poetry from 1990 to 2012. He has been included in an anthology of poetry, A Treasury of Laughter and Tears, published by One In Five Publications, 2011. A poem he wrote in 1998, 'The Penknife', was published in the Sydney Morning Herald in 2002.
Patrick was a finalist in the 2010 Gaels Got Talent, held at The Gaelic Club, Surry Hills, NSW. In 1999, he won first prize in the poetry section of the Access All Areas NSW Touring Exhibition at the Nowra Town Hall, Nowra, NSW.
He graduated from the Canberra School of Art with a Bachelor of Arts (Visual) in 1996. He has read his poetry at numerous events in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. He considers himself a Postmodern Surrealist, and his works feature in the collections of the National Library of Australia, the Australian National University Library, The Mitchell Collection of the NSW State Library, and the Blue Mountains Council Library.
As of 2013, he continues to work in the Blue Mountains.
