Nancy Barnes became the first Aboriginal woman appointed to the Aboriginal Affairs Board. A qualified kindergarten teacher, she was a Regional Director with the Kindergarten Union of South Australia from 1965. Barnes was taken from her Pitjanjatjara family at the age of three and grew up at Colebrook Home.
