BiographyHistory

Norman Bartlett grew up in Perth and graduated from the University of Western Australia. He was awarded a PhD from ANU, studying under the supervision of Manning Clark.
During World War 2 he enlisted in the RAAF and between 1954 and 1974 he served in diplomatic posts overseas. Bartlett was a journalist and travel writer and editor of military history books, including With the Australians in Korea (1954). Apart from Australia, he lived in Thailand, India and Japan.
He married Evelyn Bartlett (q.v.). His papers are held in the National Library of Australia (MS6884).
