BiographyHistory

Jack Manguji was born at Borroloola, Northern Territory, and became part of the Stolen Generation at one week of age. Taken from his mother he was sent to the Garden Point Mission, Melville Island, where his name was changed to Luke. After his mother's death he lived with his foster parents in Elizabeth, South Australia for many years before returning to Darwin at the age of 21 to find his Aboriginal roots (Source: Northern Territory Literary Awards 2007 on website http://www.nretas.nt.gov.au)
