BiographyHistory

Edith Strangways was born at Charlotte Waters near the Finke River, Northern Territory. She was taken from her family and sent to Adelaide to work as a domestic. During the earlier part of her life, Edith Strangways lived at Charlotte Waters and Dalhousie where she learnt stories from the old people about Dalhousie and the lower Finke in the 1920s. Strangways was a speaker of Arabana and lower southern Aranda.
