BiographyHistory

Paul Turner trained as a musician in piano and then composition at Melbourne University. He worked as a Composer in Community in Hamilton, Vic. for the Victorian Department of the Arts during the Music '81 Festival. In the 1980s he moved to Adelaide and has held various positions as a musician and composer, including that of a part-time tutor at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (University of Adelaide), and he edited several issues of the Centre's journal, Tjunguringanyi. He also reviewed contemporary music concerts, over a period including two Adelaide Festivals, for the monthly Adelaide Review. Apart from writing, he has also worked in the field of visual arts, particularly photography and collage.
