BiographyHistory

Walck took over the juvenile titles from Oxford University Press of New York. David McKay Company took over Walck's in 1973. According to his obituary in the New York Times:

'Mr. Walck served as president of Oxford University Press in New York from 1948 to 1957. In 1958 he bought the company's children's book division and began publishing under his own name. His company was sold to another publishing house, David McKay, in 1973. Mr. Walck was associated with Putnam's and Prentice-Hall before joining Oxford in 1936' (December 26, 1984).
