BiographyHistory

The Nimrod Theatre Company was founded by John Bell and Ken Horler, who built the company's reputation by performing new Australian plays and finding new Australian ways of performing the classics, in particular Shakespeare. They founded the Nimrod Street Theatre in Kings Cross, now known as the Stables Theatre. In 1974 the company moved to the Belvoir Street Theatre in Surry Hills and in 1984 to the Seymour Theatre centre, where it closed in 1987.
