BiographyHistory

Rinjeira is a storyteller belonging to the Djauan (Jawoyn) people. He lived at The Government Native Settlement of Beswick, two hundred miles south of Darwin on one of the tributaries of the Roper River.

Rinjeira translated and narrated myths from the rituals Lorrkun, Ngalmark, Kunapipi, Yabburdurawa and Marraian, which were recorded by Roland Robinson and T.G.H. Strehlow during the 1950s to 1960s.
