Lucienne Fontannaz studied art and worked as a teacher, curator, and artist in Switzerland, Canada, and Australia. She grew up in Switzerland and lives in Australia. Fontannaz completed a Master of Arts at Concordia University in Canada in the 1970s. She has written about her experiences as a speaker of three languages (English, French, and German) for the ABC Radio National program Lingua Franca.
