Geoffrey V. Davis taught at various universities in Europe and held visiting research fellowships at St John's College (Cambridge), Curtin University (Perth), and the University of Texas at Austin. In 2010, he retired from his chair at the University of Aachen, Germany, and was international chair of the Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (ACLALS).
