BiographyHistory

Daughter of Joseph May and his wife Hannah (Morris), Maria came to SA with her family in 1839, her father becoming a fruitgrower and farmer at Mount Barker. She was the fourth of eleven children. In 1843 she married Henry Weston Phillips, an accountant and merchant.
