BiographyHistory

Margaret Stevenson was the wife of George Stevenson, the first Editor of the South Australian newspaper The Register. They were married in May 1836 at St George's, Hanover Square, from the home of Lord William and Lady Fitzroy, and she left an interesting circle of literary friends to become a pioneer colonist, arriving on the "Buffalo" in December 1836.

Margaret Stevenson wrote poetry without publishing it. She published in SA newspapers, however, under a pseudonym.
