He uses texts by Chinese students including The Year the Dragon Came (1996) and Bitter Peaches and Plums (1995). He discusses the anthology Qu ge Wai guo Nu ren zuo Tai tai (1993) and specifically Wu Li's title story, in depth to refute journalist Paul Sheehan's arguments against Chinese immigration to Australia.
