Kathy Lette has worked as an interviewer and writer for television and radio. Her first book, Puberty Blues, co-written with Gabrielle Carey (q.v.), was published when she was 21. Its depiction of teen culture in Australia's surfing world atttracted considerable attention at the time and it was filmed by Bruce Beresford in 1981.
Lette spent some years as a singer in the cabaret duet, the Salami Sisters. She also worked as a newspaper columnist in Sydney and New York and as a television sitcom writer. Lette has written several plays, including 'Wet Dreams' (1985) and a radio drama 'I'm So Happy for You' (1991).
Lette settled in London and, in 2009, was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Arts from Southampton Solent University.
