BiographyHistory

Margaret Coen, wife of poet Douglas Stewart and mother of novelist and writer Meg Stewart (qq.v), was a prominent Australian watercolourist. She illustrated Douglas Stewart's Garden of Friends and The Seven Rivers. Her paintings hang in the Australian National Gallery and a number of State galleries. Meg Stewart wrote about her mother's life in Autobiography of my Mother (Penguin, 1985).
